SNMA Health Fair
On April 14, 2018, HOA joined many other health-related organizations at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis in an annual community outreach event by the Student National Medical Association. In addition to trivia questions and prizes, HOA's booth had flyers with information in English and Spanish regarding proper opioid disposal.
Star Tribune Feature

Despite attention and efforts to battle the opioid epidemic, the misuse, overuse, and deaths related to opioids continue to rise. Day at the Capitol
HOA participated in Day at the Capitol on March 14, 2018. Highlights included a debriefing session regarding how to effectively talk to politicians, meeting with Minnesota Senator Tom Bakk, and the MMA-hosted reception. It was a great day to discuss advocacy and policy change.
Meeting with Leaders
The Direct Advocacy committee scheduled a meeting with Senator Chris Eaton and Representative Dave Baker which took place on January 9, 2018. HOA members facilitated meaningful conversation with the legislators regarding pain and addiction treatment legislation.
High School Lecture
On November 27, 2017, HOA presented a lecture on opioids and addiction to health classes at Harding Senior High School in St. Paul, MN. HOA's Tom and Minna helped to supplement the student's curriculum by presenting an educational and informational PowerPoint, discussing patient scenarios, and promoting class dialogue.
